I visited the Terrapin Brewery in Athens, GA this weekend and had a blast. Beer can’t be sold legally at a brewery, so they sell you a glass for $10 with tickets that you use for pours. It’s a dang good deal! I tried Side Project, Hopsecutioner, Golden Ale, Monk’s Revenge, and ended with the Easy Rider. I’d say the favorite amongst my peeps was the Monk’s Revenge - at 9.8% ABV it is a combination of a Belgian Style Tripel and a new age American Double IPA. Holy Turtle, it hit the spot.

Hey Atlantans! I give you a local spin on the Long Island Iced Tea, the Top Shelf Peachtree Tea : Patron Silver, Bombay Sapphire, Absolut, Peach Schnapps, Sour and Coke. This alcoholic beauty is served up at Strip Steak and Sushi in Atlantic Station. Two of these (or maybe only one if you’re not a lush) and you’ll be ready to go shoppin’!

Road trip!
Me and some friends escaped to Dahlonega, GA to do a bit of wine tasting. Our first stop was Three Sisters winery. We chose the Vitner’s Tasting which included 6 wines, some paired with chocolates or cheetos (?!), and a souvenir wine glass - all for $15. My favorite wine by far was the Fat Boy Red. I regret not buying a bottle or two to bring home, so I’ll have to return soon! (Also, any place with a friendly cat roaming ‘round is good in my book).

The Wasp at Leon’s Full Service: Redemption rye, georgia peach honey, lemon, salt and pepper. Yes, you read that right, salt and pepper. And it had every right being there. This is one of the restaurants Summer Cocktails that will be disappearing very soon, so if you are in Atlanta, stop looking at my pretty pictures and go get you one!

What you are looking at is the stellar bar at Leon’s Full Service in Decatur, GA. Quite possibly my ultimate favorite bar in the South. Don’t get me wrong, the food is equally as amazing (please try the burger and fries with bacon mayo), but I try to stick to my drinkin’ theme and don’t focus too much on that here. In the next few days I’m going to show you some of the beers and cocktails I enjoyed, with such ingredients as celery juice, roasted peanut orgeat, and salt and pepper. So please check back!

Goin’ Coastal is a “sustainable seafood joint” with two locations in Georgia. I sat down at the bar in the Virginia Highlands one afternoon to check out what they could mix up. Shown here is a basil limeade. I’m not sure how they pulled such delicious flavors out of simple ingredients of Old Russian vodka, basil simple syrup, and and lime, but lemme tell ya, with drinks like this I really don’t want summer to end.

The Porter in Little 5 Points Atlanta is certainly known for its list of 500+ beers, but don’t ignore their cocktail menu or you’ll be missing out. This is one delicious quart of The Porter’s Ginger Lemonade, with housemade lemonade, ginger, and vodka.
