JCT Kitchen in Atlanta, GA, is synonymous with the best-fried-chicken-you’ll-ever-eat-in-your-life. Not surprisingly, they serve kick ass cocktails. I’ll be honest, sometimes this blog gets hard because all the bars seem to serve the same stuff. I’m a little tired of cocktails with ginger beer, a few drops of “name any herb” bitters, or muddled whatever’s on hand. JCT’s list of cocktails makes me remember why I started this blog - a search for unique libations to share with anyone else who has a passion for cocktails. Now after saying all that, you might be surprised that I selected the only cocktail on the menu that had BEER in it. Not only beer, MILLER HIGH LIFE! Why? Because I don’t see that anywhere else! And you know what? It rocked my world! I like to think of it as a perfectly balanced gourmet beer margarita sweetened with thyme goodness.

I’m convinced that any drink served in a mason jar just tastes better. This Rosemary Gin & Tonic at Midway Pub, Atlanta, GA turned out to be the perfect summer twist on a cocktail staple.

I have had a surplus of the lavender simple syrup I made weeks ago without knowing what to do with it, until a local bartender recommended a recipe for a delicious herbal cocktail. It’s very close to a Tom Collins, so I think I will call it Lady Collins, until I am corrected. It really has an amazing flavor.
Lady Collins+ 3 oz Caprock Gin+ 1/4 - 1/2 oz lavender simple syrup+ the juice of 3 or 4 lemon slices+ sprig or 2 of rosemaryToss all ingredients into a shaker, shake and strain, garnish with rosemary.

This is a second cocktail inspired by my recent read of Rosemary’s Baby - a Gibson. This is strooong, basically a martini. But if you like gin, go for it!

This is the Green Light from Leon’s Full Service. Possibly the most interesting drink I’ve had to date. The ingredients include Berkshire Mountain Ethereal Gin, lemon, fresh celery juiced on site, and roasted peanut orgeat (an oil water emulsion of peanut oils). The result is a hybrid of citrusy-veggie-nutty goodness that is truly hard to put into words, and so, so good.

The most popular drink at the Wrecking Bar Brewpub is the In The Park, and after you’ve had one there is no question as to why. This cocktail fuses Gordon’s Gin, fresh basil, grapefruit juice and soda into a smooth and bright herbal tongue pleaser.
