Me and the hubs went to one of my favorite restaurant/bars, the Iberian Pig (Atlanta). Noticing the cocktail menu didn’t offer ups any tequila libations, we asked the bartender if he had any off-menu ideas. He whipped out a little black notebook and mixed up this beauty borrowed from the Tabard Inn in Washington, DC. The moral of the story? Sit at the bar!
Tabard cocktail : Milagro Reposado Tequila, Lustau Amontillado Sherry, Drambuie, Orange Boat, Fresh Thyme

The Atlanta food scene continues to amaze me. I recently checked out Escorpion Tequila Bar and Cantina in Midtown. The cocktails were complex and original, all staying true to Mexican flavors and ingredients, and completely refreshing in the midst of the prohibition trend. Shown here is one of my favorites, the Mali Nali : Blanco tequila, Pineapple, Lime, Green Chartreuse, & Rosemary. More to come.

We’ve all had cake at office birthday gatherings… but have you ever had Margarita Cake with tequila lime glaze? What a way to spice up a work day! This cake was brought in by the lovely and, apparently very talented baker, Kristin, and was every bit as delicious as it looks. She was kind enough to share the recipe she used from Food.com. I would recommend trying this out next time you need to whip up a moist cake with a punch of flavor.*Tip: Kristin did not have the lemon cake the recipe calls for, so she used white cake and replaced the water with lemon juice. She also used more powdered sugar on top to “balance the tang”.

You can’t go to Mexico without drinking the tequila. This is my first ever tequila bandera. Americans make a mockery of tequila. We throw it back to try to hide the sting and get drunk asap. In Mexico, they sip high quality tequila with meals, savoring the flavors of the agave or mezcal plant. Shown here is the standard bandera. One shot glass tequila (Jose Cuervo Tradicional, now available in the States), one shot glass lime juice, and one shot glass sangrita (mix of tomato and orange juice, sometimes spicy). You sip these alternatively. You would be surprised at how enjoyable tequila can be!

Nothing is better than having a margarita under a tree in your favorite park. I’m really looking forward to another Grant Park Festival.

Lush Husband is at it again! This time it’s lemon infused tequila, which *almost* tastes like a margarita. I could, and will, drink it on the rocks easy.

About two weeks ago I posted about tequila my husband was infusing with local Pearson’s peaches. We decided it was time to enjoy it! We mixed it with honey syrup and this white cranberry peach juice for a light & summer-y tequila drink.
