Who’s going to a cookout this Memorial Day weekend? I am! Who feels obligated to take a side? I do! Who thinks fruit salad sounds exciting? …Neither did my husband. But you might change your attitude if i told you this was Fruit Salad with Dark Rum and Honey.
Simply whisk together 3 tbsp dark rum, 3 tbsp honey, 1 tsp Angostura bitters (if you have it on hand), and add it to a bowl of fruit of your choice. Chill for 3 hours …you and the fruit. Enjoy your long weekend everyone!

The bottle of Absolut Orient Apple claims that it’s “vodka flavored with apple and ginger flavored”, but mixed with cranberry juice it tastes like just like a candied sour apple - super delicious and dangerously easy to drink. This one is definitely more for the ladies.

What a weekend. We checked out another outdoor event, Tombs from the Tunes at Oakland Cemetary in Grant Park. (One of my favorite cemeteries). Music, booze & food trucks all amongst the stones. I wish this was a monthly occurence. Shown here is Boneyard Brew, pun intended I’m sure. We also had “rat toes” to snack on which are shrimp wrapped in jalapenoes wrapped in bacon and served on a toothpick. Oh how I missed the South.

Last night I checked out The Southern Swap Meet at the Goat Farm. Part of the proceeds went to benefit local food trucks in acquiring the proper permits/licenses. After having a chicken tamale and steak taco from the Tamale Queen truck, I’m in 100% support. On a 90 degree day, I was thankful for this Asahi beer served up nice and cold from the onsite coffee shop.

It was a lushin’ good weekend! Friday we paired pizza with a Shock Top and Dead Lift beers at Grant Central Pizza in Grant Park, Atlanta. Super summery! Saturday night we were treated to solid cocktails and alcohol cupcakes at a good friends house. Pics coming soon!
